Snell Isle Bridge Project, 2007 (or so)
This is based on memory, I found the photos on a CD which was the way we saved them, "back in the day" over 10 years ago:
SACA applied for and received a grant to plan, then implement a nice entrance to Shore Acres at the Snell Isle Bridge, on the Shore Acres side.
About 10 people volunteered, including several board members and other volunteers. We installed 7 palm trees, lots of other native plants, a sprinkler system - which had to be run under the road and water both sides, and we had to maintain it. The city provided the funds, we had to provide the labor. What you see today, when you cross over the bridge, is the result of hundreds of hours of sweat and labor, and just as many hours over kitchen tables pouring over the proposals and finalizing the plans, and going back-and-forth with city engineering, getting support from our then councilman, and others.
The formatting is imperfect (working on that), but the photos are click-able. Special thanks to Michael Douglas, Mark Ford, Dan, Mary-Beth Wagner, Dottie Sabre, and others.
